UP TO THE WATERFALLS

This tour is perfect for those who enjoy riding to natural locations. Starting from your house in Villa de Leyva, you’ll climb on a paved road surrounded by farm fields and oak forests where you will reach the beautiful waterfalls at La Cebada River. There you can hike on a path up to the side of the river, reaching the cascade and cooling off on the pond, if you wish as a reward. On the way back, take a fun dirt road with a magnificent view and a challenging downhill ride, to reach “El pozo de la vieja” (the old woman’s pond), another beautiful place to swim and rest for a while. Finally, a little warm up with a 2km uphill to get to the road that will take us back to town.

Terrain Accessible for the average bike rider with a good fitness level, this tour is a mix of dirt roads and asphalt. Be prepared for 5km of downhill over a gravel road.

We do not provide any equipment, so bring your mountain bicycle, water, some food for the way mosquito repellent, sunscreen and security accesories.

THE HIDDEN VALLEY 

Starting from your house in Villa de Leyva, and riding through the desert we'll head to Santa Sofia's paved road. After a little warm up ride, we detour on El Carcamo to climb up 5km on a dirt road that will take us to the Hidden Valley, a green paradise in the middle of the desert. 

Once there, some single trails will take us to the river where we can cool off and rest for a while. We’ll visit a colonial-era mill and enjoy the view while eating a delicious “cuajada con melao”, a traditional dessert from the Andean region!

If you choose the one way tour, just enjoy the downhill road back to Villa de Leyva. You can also stop in some of the museums and main attractions on the way. The entrance fees are not included so carry some Colombian cash.

Challenge of the hidden Valley profile

This is an extended version of the Hidden Valley tour, suited for mountain bikers looking for a little outdare. On the way back we'll ride over a challenging dirt road up and an exciting downhill with technical rocky trails and paths.  You can also stop in some of the museums and main attractions on the way. The entrance fees are not included so carry some Colombian cash.

CHALLENGE

TRAIL TO THE MISTY FOREST

Misty forest Profile

This bike tour will take place on the northern side of town. This tour starts at your house in Villa de Leyva. We begin with a 30min car ride and then start riding into the beautiful farm fields. Soon you will see nothing but the sublime mid-mountain native forest, listening to a great variety of birds along the way. After this 10k ride, you’ll reach the magic waterfalls of La Honda, stop for a while to have a bite to eat, cool off in the pure water and delight in the surroundings. Enjoy the exiting downhill almost all the way back to the town of Gachantiva, where a car will be waiting to take us back to Villa de Leyva.

THE WITCHES PATIO

This challenging ride starts at your house in Villa de Leyva at 2000m (6562ft), and rides through a magnificent desert landscape where we’ll head to the mountains in the south. Riding over narrow dirt roads up to 2.500m (8202ft) to an incredible viewpoint where we’ll reach the “Patio de Brujas” a Muisca sacred sanctuary, recently reconstructed by the pottery artisans of Raquira. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the desert mountains of the Saquencipa Valley, the most peaceful place in the area. On the way back you will be rewarded by a deep downhill over dirt and paved roads, surrounded by farm fields  to reach the beautiful town of Ráquira. Here is where the truck will pick us up to bring us back to Villa de Leyva.
